New research showing that sewage in Scotlandโ€™s rivers & beaches is far more widespread than generally realisedโ€”and monitoring is scant (only 8% of sewage outflows are monitored vs nearly 100% in England). As in England, regulation is weak. theguardian.com/environment/arโ€ฆ

"The new legislation being introduced to parliament on Thursday will also give the regulators powers to ban bonuses for water company CEOs." Am I getting confused or is govt? Treasury says it will absolutely not under any circumstances reintroduce the ban in bankers bonuses but

"Water company bosses could face prison time in new Labour crackdown on sewage infested rivers, lakes and seas." That idea is already part of the Companies Act and has been for almost 20 years. Wanna know how many company bosses have ever been prosecuted never mind gone to jail

Water company bosses could face jail NOW under current law, as waste company bosses already have for the same offences. So why has the government not ordered an investigation into their past and present widespread corporate criminality? thetimes.com/uk/environmentโ€ฆ

It will cost ยฃ12.5 billion in the next Parliament to keep water companies under control of private shareholders. We need workers and bill-payers to elect directors on boards, and stop paying polluters of our water. With Nick Ferrari on the new Water Special Measures Bill.๐Ÿ‘‡

Well said sir. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Because here's the catch, water companies can still carry on dumping billions of litres of sewage into the environment and there isn't a cat's chance in hell that any water company boss will be prosecuted never mind end up in jail.

A dispassionate review of Labour's grip on the criminal water industry scandal, from the financial market, as water company share prices rose up to 5% after the Steve Reed MP ' tough new legislation was revealed. Labour might even make pollution more profitable. What a shambles
