3 years ago today I was running in Stanley Park when I suddenly lost consciousness. I woke up 4 days later post-op from a 4-vessel bypass. Sincerest thanks to the bystanders who performed CPR, the paramedics and the staff at St Paul’s Hospital for my second chance at life.

The rate that patients present to emergency cannot be controlled regardless of staff numbers. It is literally impossible to have mandated staffing ratios in emergency. Mandated ratios on the wards would make patient/nurse ratios in emergency worse.

By charging $100 for COVD vaccinations, the Province of Alberta is undermining efforts to prevent a disease that killed more Canadians than the number of Canadian soldiers killed in World War 1. This is unconscionable and dangerous.
