Americans who flamboyantly fixate on the rights abuses of US adversaries -- over which they have no influence and can do nothing about -- while ignoring or supporting similar abuses by their own government, for which they bear responsibility and thus could combat, are frauds.

Noam Chomsky -- as is true of anyone who speaks on polarizing debates, let alone for 7 decades -- has said things every faction finds objectionable. But his willingness to speak truths like these, at the hardest times, is why he has my eternal admiration:
