It was an honor to be interviewed with Lorenzo Guerini by Flavia Giacobbe for Formiche commemorating the two year anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. formiche.net/2024/02/ucrain…

Victory for the Strong Means Defeat for the West | "The Bucha massacre underlines the harsh truth that the political objectives underpinning Russia’s war, and the tactics it employs, have made the conflict a matter of life and death for Ukrainians and for the Ukrainian state

I fear scholars quoting Thucydides, but I'm guilty of doing it here. Sometimes it is too appropriate to resist. Mea culpa... cepa.org/article/victor…

Britain's Labour receives 33.8% of the vote and enjoys an 85 seat majority. France's NR gets 37% of the vote and is locked out of power in the National Assembly. Tactical voting in democracy is amazing...

Understanding transatlantic relations is more important than ever. Thanks to my co-editor Elie Baranets, all our authors, and the team at University of Michigan Press for helping produce Turbulence Across the Sea. lnkd.in/dKNNrEEe

"The question for me is: What will become of literature — and indeed, of society — if men are no longer involved in reading and writing?" That is, indeed, an important question. From: nytimes.com/2024/12/07/opi…

Meanwhile in the Mediterranean, big news from eni: gas from the Kronos gas field off Cyprus "will be transported and processed in Egypt at existing Zohr facilities to be then liquefied in the Damietta LNG plant for export to European markets." eni.com/en-IT/media/pr…

Travel more rewarding? Annual fee goes up and cardholders lose the benefit of upgrades at bookings. United Airlines why is this good? Maybe you're excited, but I'm not.

April 1, the anniversary of the start of the EOKA struggle in Cyprus. Thank you to Εκδόσεις Γκοβόστη (govostis.gr/product/27660/…) for translating my book, The EOKA Cause (Bloomsbury Books UK: bloomsbury.com/us/eoka-cause-…) into Greek.

It was an honor to share the stage with professors Vassilis Trigkas and Athanasios Platias at the famous DelphiEconomicForum. We discussed strategic competition through the lens of Thucydides. #finditinthucydides

Great to be working at the National Archives again. Every researcher knows how great it is to find "gems" like this. A haughty, almost British "colonial" assessment of the national character of Greeks by the US Department of State from 1946. Curious what my Greek friends think.

Another classic from the U.S. National Archives. I don't know who Mr. Tomb was, but he didn't think much of our Department of State. Can't please everyone all the time. For what it's worth, I think supporting the Greek Government against Communist insurgents was a good thing. #Pluscachange.

“We live in a world in which you can talk... about international niceties, but we live in... the real world... governed by strength, that is governed by force, that is governed by power." Stephen Miller reminds us to read the Melian Dialogue. #finditinThucydides & beware Sicily
