This menorah dates back to at least 1767, when it was donated to a synagogue in Buergel, Germany. It was presented to Harry Truman in 1951 and is among the gifts from heads of state Truman Library. In 2008, it was borrowed by the White House for that year's Hanukkah reception.
I really enjoyed welcoming University of Louisville McConnell Center McConnell Center Scholars to US National Archives this morning. It’s great seeing so many undergrads interested in our democracy and national history. Thanks to Leader McConnell and his staff for connecting us.
