Thanks to Brookes History for giving me the opportunity to present the research that edge_law, Dr. Alex Powell, and I have been doing into women in politics! Really great to talk about our work and a great Q&A session afterwards. Thanks everyone!

Just wanted to second this from an academic perspective! ILPA do a fantastic job at an unbelievable pace and I am so proud to have worked with them! And Zoe Bantleman has, by far, the most impressive grasp of (constantly changing) UK immigration law of anyone I know!

Nothing. It’s pure ideological. Also decades of insights on the socially constructed & politically charged nature of gender thrown out of the window. No empathy or interest in understanding trans kids own perspectives & in teasing out diverse forms of evidence .

I now know FOUR people who are leafleting in the local elections for 3 separate political parties: all based on supporting individual pro-active travel councillor candidates.

The problem is that it doesn't. The people attacking gender, gender studies and transgender rights are largely formed of those who'd like to see a roll back of women's rights eg abortion, the rights of lesbian gay and bi folk - eg the right to be parents

Oxfordshire's population is growing, and its traffic will too unless we swap out some of our car journeys for another form of transport. It comes down to do nothing or try something--Oxford's traffic filters are that something. For more information, go to bit.ly/oxfordtrafficf…

Once you've decided that rights-bearing adulthood is actually something you can be *conveniently flexible* about for groups you don't like, the possibilities are enormous.

Maybe it has an end-date as well, eh?

Can I have some clarity here?

As a gay man with a twin sister, the first feminist principle our mother impressed on us was:

There’s nothing innate about the toys girls and boys play with, or the activities you do

So, to be clear, we are swinging from the idea of introducing conscription for young people i.e. forcibly requiring them to go to situations where they might die to prohibiting medical treatment because they aren't mature enough to decide?

Right, okay. I see.

What's happening to trans people in the UK and US right now is cisgender activists laundering talking points through cisgender reporters who are then cited by cisgender lawmakers to justify banning medical care for trans people and trans people only

I fixed it for you: 'Oxford introduces filters to reduce congestion and manage traffic to ensure safe and accessible streets for residents.'

Proud to be standing for a political party that is trans inclusive. Locally Oxford City Greens have called on the council to 'work with healthcare providers... to remove barriers transgender and non-binary people face', something I've been working towards: mycouncil.oxford.gov.uk/mgAi.aspx?ID=3… 💚🏳️‍⚧️

Who needs the Conservative party when you have a Labour party just as willing to whip up moral panics to justify authoritarian measures?

A Labour win would be 'lesser evilism' as Lorna Finlayson aptly calls it

It's not progress. It's not emancipatory
