Small but mighty! This year's newest addition to our YHC laboratories automates the testing process of counting and sorting blood cells that aid in diagnosis. This means we can better provide consistently fast test results and enhanced accuracy in diagnosis.

Recent media reports have been inaccurate and created confusion. We want to assure Yukoners that our teams are working hard to return to anticipated service levels within medical imaging and surgical services. 1/3

X-rays, mammograms, MRIs, ultrasounds and CT services continue to be restored to the fullest capacity possible. Despite this, we anticipate that we’ll increase medical imaging volumes by about 14% over last year. 2/3

Surgical services will be near full capacity in January – and back at anticipated levels by February. We are on track to see about a 4% increase over last year in the number of scheduled (elective) and emergency surgical procedures performed at WGH. 3/3

We led 18 First Nations health leaders, who attended the CYFN Health & Social Development Commission, through the construction site of our future Mental Wellness Unit. Their insights are important in ensuring that the space we're creating will truly serve the community's needs.

Important Update: Water Leak in Emergency Department This afternoon, we experienced a pipe burst above our Emergency Department, leading to water leakage in the area. This was likely related to ongoing construction and the recent extreme cold weather. 1/2

We're actively cleaning up, but please know that our Emergency Department is open and there is no impact to our capacity to support Emergency patient care. For today, we've temporarily moved registration, triage, and waiting area nearby. Please follow signage to guide you. 2/2
