The first time I stepped on a maker space my co-founder Paige Whitehead and we were the only women in the space. Think about innovation hubs, engineering and finance classes, tech spaces. They are not only male dominated but lack the diversity of world views and stories #StartupChats

It’s important to look at the stories that are shared or promoted about these industries - the images, the people that lead, people in decision-making positions. I’ve observed the lack of representation start with the leadership structure itself. #StartupChats

Technology, finance, business... I believe equitable access should be a standard across all sectors. #StartupChats

Lack of representation promotes the belief that “others” do not belong or fit in the space. Representation however starts instilling g the belief and feeling of belonging - it’s no longer a space that belongs to one group, it belongs to all and in business that means innovation✨

I would switch the conversation towards “how can male-dominated spaces offer more inclusive opportunities for diverse folks”. It’s not only women who benefit, it’s all industries who will benefit from more profits, inclusive product design & opportunities to access new markets 👏🏽
