Here’s a satellite loop of Maria on its approach to Dominica. In-situ obs recorded 10-min. sustained winds of 130kt which supports an intensity of ~145kt. This reading exceeded that of what FLWs would support, suggesting very efficient vertical mixing from this TC in particular.

Are we going to talk about how warm the caribbean is getting? Warmer than even 2023. Could mean absolutely nothing. or it could mean something. I have no analog because the caribbean was not this warm in 1997, 2015 or evwn 2023. So I really dont know. What do you think?
