#VDF | Calling all undergrads! We are hosting our final VDF mentorship meeting of the year. Next Wednesday, April 12th, Col. Jurkowski will be discussing the role of the military in combating misinformation and disinformation.

My former commander came down to Kingston to brief the Cadets at RMC about the Canadian Forces Military Police and she provided a real world perspective to our History of Peacekeeping Ops class. Great mentors keep giving back!

Our ND and MN family holiday activity is making deer sausage followed up with smoking it. My contribution this year is gopher for picking up needed supplies from butcher and alcohol. Basically it’s a 48 hour BBQ while it smokes.

What I’ve been up to this year during my War College Fellowship!

First run since I broke my ribs 8 weeks ago. Slow but I’m just happy to be out! I miss running loops around Lake Harriet and always make a stop here when I visit.

I’m 44 and the Easter bunny still leaves me an Easter basket. I’m starting to suspect the Bunny is actually my Mom since I also got Paska Easter bread which is the same recipe great grandmas have passed down.

I love my Army family; Maj Miller gave me a proper welcoming party to the UK! We even picked up crowns.

It was great fun to watch the Coronation yesterday with my friends in the British Army at Catterick Garrison Mess and an early morning run down to Easby Abbey. They explained all the traditions and protocol for the ceremonies.

Hey Ryan Jurkowski this is how you become the favorite Visiting Defence Fellow of our prof Dr. Ian Garner! I traveled all the way to King’s College in London to hear him lecture and get a copy of his book! I earned all the extra credit points!

I had the best time this last weekend catching up with my favorite British officer and watching her and the Army Women crush it at Army/Navy rugby! Maj Chantelle Miller is such a champion.

Fantastic presentation about the Information Environment by my battle buddy, the Canadian Visiting Defence Fellow Ryan Jurkowski! What a fantastic way to end our year of study… now we just have to edit our policy papers down to a shorter format.

CIDP is excited for the bright future our RMC Interns who commissioned as lieutenants in the Canadian Army today: Riley Manels into the artillery and Jieun Lee in logistics. Émile L.-D. sat with me and of course Howard Coombs attended as History Dept faculty!

#Announcement | We would like to announce the appointment of Prof. Stéphanie Martel (@st_martel) as the new Director of the Centre for International and Defence Policy. We also like to thank the Centre’s previous director, Hugh Segal, for his leadership over the past year.

The Canadian Army MP Group had me visit today to speak about interoperability and I had a chance to link up with my old peeps! The former DComd is now the Commander and my old Capt is now a Maj in command of 5 MP Regt!

PCS move #13 of 27 years of service has commenced! I’m going to miss all my favorite Canadians. Don’t worry Canada, I vow I’ll be back for a third assignment here!

There is nothing better than a little time in the woods. I miss this trail.
