5 years ago we as farmers were classed as essential workers, essential to the running of the country, essential to every day life. What’s changed? Talk of military help needed in Ukraine. Foot and Mouth outbreaks in Europe. World leaders not on the same pages. Food security?

I finally understand the miners’ utter hatred of a govt and the generational refusal to ever vote for them again. Congratulations Steve Reed Keir Starmer your heartless destruction of rural communities has utterly betrayed your rural MPs, they and us deserve better National Farmers' Union

Excellent explanation of why British farms have become highly efficient over the past00s but that hasn’t been reflected in market prices as subsides have kept food cheap for the nation. This isn’t a situation the market simply fixes without causing food poverty for millions!!

I’m fairly apolitical usually but here’s a wonderful idea, a farming minister who actually gets farming, wouldn’t that be a breath of fresh air right now!!!

🗣️ “What’s not acceptable is that decent, honest, hardworking families can’t carry on producing food…” ❌🌽 Fifth-generation farmer Wise Chapman Sheep says the Government needs to consider a ‘clawback option’ as a middle ground in the current IHT fight. 🪧🚨 WATCH THE FULL IHT

Theres so much politics around cows but it’s really simple. British beef is sustainable and an essential part of mixed farming. People want to buy it and it’s part of a healthy diet. Government should support farmers in trade deals. #BritishBeefWeek

On Tuesday at 2.30, we’re holding a session on biosecurity at the border. We’ll be talking to Defra UK officials about: - outbreaks of foot and mouth disease in Europe - bans on personal imports of EU meat and dairy. - commercial import controls on animal and plant products

This article underlines the key issue with the #FamilyFarmTax, in that just like Lord Foulkes clearly hasn't met the protestors or sat across the kitchen table with them, I strongly suspect the policy was locked into the Red Book before anyone who has ever been exposed to

Question. How much more will it take for the treasury to clean their ears out and listen? Because they’re entrenched pretending it’s political, it’s not, this is cross party condemnation of a cruel tax, that can be easily amended to raise the same revenue without the human cost
