Comments by L&Q do not reflect the chain of events as they happened. We worked with L&Q + Hackney Council to reduce cladding works impact on green space + biodiversity but GM contractors were sent both during+after works which is when most of the destruction happened.

Wildlife Gardeners of Haggerston L&Q Hackney Council Unfortunately grounds maintenance by HA contractors so often reflects no interest in environmental and biodiversity concerns. Hacking back shrubs & trees, often at worst time of year for breeding birds, and use of โ€œhard cutโ€ to minimise future maint. Same at my PeabodyLDN block

Peter Fox OBE MS Poppycock. Itโ€™s one of our most important native wild flowers and supports a vast array of pollinators. Thereโ€™s no requirement to control it and proven cases of harm to livestock are exceptionally rare. Animals avoid it. Proper fact checking prevents public ridicule!

Why are we still spraying glyphosate, a probable carcinogen, in Hackney in 2024 in the midst of a biodiversity crisis? This was in De Beauvoir Square. #pesticidefree #naturerecovery #biodiversitycrisis
