These dark times need more hope. Thomas Homer-Dixon lays out the imperative to ‘hope to’ create the world we want through a unifying vision and ‘virtuous cascades of change’. Commanding Hope shows us the possibilities.
My thanks to the Korea Veterans Association of Canada and 주캐나다대한민국대사관 for yesterday's Turn to Busan ceremony in #Ottawa. A fitting tribute to the more than 27,000 Canadians who served in the #KoreanWar and the enduring friendship between our nations.
Another great work by Tim Cook from Canadian War Museum. “The Fight For History” details the often shameful treatment by our nation of our Second World War legacy and the fight to honour it properly. One wonders how the wars of our service will be considered over the next 75 years.
Before we end this year, take a look back at the Canadian Army in 2020. Thank you to each and every one of you who, despite the challenges, ensured we succeeded.
“Hate in the Homeland” by Dr. Cynthia Miller-Idriss. An important new book that clearly lays out the insidious and evolving threat posed by mainstreamed far right extremism. In our profession we must understand that “prevention of extremism and protection of democracy go hand in hand.”
