Orion's European Service Module will deploy its solar panels in about 10 min. The vehicle will reach 1808 km apogee at about 0740 UTC, 52 min into flight.

Solar array wings are being deployed! The distinctive X-wing solar panels on the European Service Module are now unfolding, getting solar power and recharging its batteries.

Technically, Orion is in orbit, but it has very low perigee to ensure that the giant core stage of the SLS rocket reenters safely. It also means that the Orion/upper stage stack should fire its own engine in apogee to enter a more stable parking orbit around the Earth.

The best today could have been was nominal, and so far it has been. That is awesome and celebrateable! Nominal is the best rocket engineering word! But we got a looooooooong way to do before we can punch the moon in the face with human feet like Apollo did
