NHS England has just decided to suspend NHS Practitioner Health services for all new referrals from hospital staff from this Monday.

The PHP costs £11 million/year - or only 0.007% of NHS England's annual budget.

It's cruel & self-defeating.

Please intervene 🙏

A reminder why NHS Practitioner Health was first set up - after the heartbreaking tragedy of a doctor who so feared stigma from colleagues she felt unable to seek mental health support - & killed herself & her baby daughter.

Please don't defund this vital service, NHS England 🙏

The number of #GPs in England continues to fall. Based on the government’s pledge of an additional 6k more GPs by March 2024, we would expect there to be around 33,800 GPs as of December 2023, but data suggests there are only around 27,500.

Is it any wonder when they & NHSE have reduced GP Practice funding by 20% £/patient since 2016, only funded additional roles at expense of GPs

Doctors have the highest suicide rates of all professions & currently morale is at an all time low.

How much more can the profession take?! 😞
