I don't see Ellis leaving as a white person unable to take legitimate criticism from POC--though it does happen--but seeking to divorce herself from the carefully calculated harassment that occurred after.

The hypervisibility of POC and the need to position us as saboteurs and boogeymen in tandem with the harassment women receive from voicing their opinions and the alt-right desire to pull white women away from leftist movements resulted in this unpleasant quagmire.

The sinister message tucked neatly beneath "the left eats its own" is "irrational savage POC drive reasonable white people from movement."

A two-fold goal to divide us and silence us. To make all of us fear speaking out against injustice or even talking to one another about the unintentional ways we hurt each other.
