The name Sackville, was taken to honor Lord George Sackville, who was an English politician as well as a soldier who had a commanding role in the seven years war. He lived from 1716 to 1785. Check out The White Fence for more info on local history: bit.ly/31gggGk

Local history fact: The largest vessel ever built in Sackville was built by Charles Dixon, and was named The Sarah Dixon, after his wife. The boat was 1468 tonnes and was built at the Dixon shipyard. Check out our publications for more local history: bit.ly/3pf5vO8
