It is extremely important for educators to work on their mental & physical health right now. Whether school is in person or virtual, we are dealing with stress that we have never encountered. Take time for yourself daily/weekly - read, walk, rest, spend time with loved ones.

You can tell a teacher to take the weekend off, to push school to the side, to avoid email, and to avoid 12-14 hour days...but they will tell you that most of the time, being highly effective in their role requires them to use their personal time. Teachers need us to know that.

David Flynn’s 6th grade Individual & Societies classes created Essential Agreements through the lens of the Learner Profile! They recognized their individual and shared responsibilities and demonstrated their commitment to themselves and other members of our learning community! 🍓

While working on Second Step, 3rd grade students started to ask questions about degrees of feelings. This lead us into an inquiry into word scaling. Day 1 we explored words that convey a volume of speaking. We placed the words on a continuum from whisper to scream!

3rd grade students continued to make connections between known and unknown words. Day 2 into this inquiry and we explored degrees of speed from tip-toe to mosey to scurry to dash. They had a great time practicing their new vocabulary words across the field!
