Major pollution incident in Wimbledon Park lake which is owned by Merton Council. Milky blue water with unpleasant smell flowing through the park and into the Wandle. Word is it's coming from AELTC site as they pack up. 😡

Friday Pub Day. This is the Queens Head, Cricket Green, Mitcham. Now closed and converted to flats. In the cellar was a hatch in the floor that when lifted you could see a small stream that flows from Pollards Hill to the River Wandle at Colliers Wood.

💧 Tests on the water confirmed blue-green algae in Wimbledon Park brook. 💧Thames Water are investigating the source. ⛔🐶 Although it is a natural occurrence, this algae can be harmful to dogs, so, we are advising people not to let their pets drink or go into the water.

The Mouth of the Wandle from 1895 publication “Surrey: highways, byeways, and waterways”, by C.R.B. Barrett. Described as “a dreary and not altogether savoury spot “. Despite trespassers being prosecuted he did his sketch, "depressing and merited the designation of “sewer”.
