Tuesday Quiz Day. Last week the photo was of workmen pouring off lavender oil after the lavender had been distilled.
Where along the Wandle Valley would you associate this picture with from 1938?

Monday Art Day. The family of Victor Hine donated his paintings and sketches that he produced in the 1950s/60s to the museum. They included notes on each scene. This is his painting of Waddon Ponds from that time. No sign of any buildings and looks like a country view.

Understandably our neighbours and Mitcham residents are in shock over the devastation to the Burn Bullock.

Tomorrow we will be opening our pavilion to the local community between 12 and 2. Come down, chat to friends and enjoy some free tea and cake.

We were very sad last night to see the pictures of fire that took hold of the Burn Bullock, Mitcham .This listed pub dates back to Tudor times. Closed up for a number of years with building restrictions on it we wait to see what the future holds.

Friday Pub Day. Fountain, Plumpton Green built in 1851 was the only Young's pub in Essex. It's origins are as a bakehouse and the first mention as a public house is in 1879. Young's bought the pub in 1965. It has since been sold to the Punch chain.

Thursday Postcard Day. This is a postcard of Lord Nelson's funeral barge. The house - Merton Place - he shared with Lady Hamilton had a moat feed by water from the Wandle. He also fished the river, watched cricket at Mitcham Cricket Green and a pew at St Mary's, Merton Park.
