Today, we cut the ribbon on James Baldwin Place, which will offer 54 units of safe housing to people exiting homelessness and addiction. Under our Breaking the Cycle plan, we are matching our resources to the specific needs of the people on our streets. This project reflects

I've been attending community meetings about several different drug-free transitional housing programs for people exiting drug treatment and the pushback has been astounding. These are DRUG-FREE sites. 🧵

Yesterday, in partnership with Westside Community Services we opened James Baldwin Place. A 54 bed clean and sober transitional housing program for people who've completed drug treatment. We are bringing recovery back to San Francisco. Daniel Lurie 丹尼爾·羅偉 Steve Adami TheWayOutSF T Wolf 🌁

Last week at our Salvation Army Gala event, our culinary program prepared and served hors d'oeuvres to over 300 guests. Many of our culinary program participants are in recovery! Take a listen! Salvation Army SF

Today, I signed the Recovery First Ordinance. This legislation makes long-term recovery the main goal of San Francisco’s approach to substance use treatment—defining recovery as living a healthy, self-directed life, free from illegal drug use. Thank you Supervisor Matt Dorsey,

In addition to Matt Dorsey, a lot of credit goes to people like Steve Adami T Wolf 🌁 and Cedric Akbar, who are leaders in the recovery community. They did a lot of work to change the narrative around drugs in San Francisco.

Show me any other program that has a 77% success rate of getting the homeless permanently housed. Who knew the right formula was sitting in a little shelter/campus in San Jose/Silicon Valley? I knew it. Now you do too. The Salvation Army Google NVIDIA Cisco

Giving people valuable job skills is one of the best ways to keep people out of homelessness and off drugs. We just completed our 9th culinary training class and are assisting with job placement. This is TheWayOutSF. #recovery

I’m pleased to share that I’ve joined Salvation Army SF as the new Director of Donor Relations for SF. I’m excited to accelerate their work supporting the City. Because Doing the Most Good is what being a good neighbor, community member, and San Franciscan is all about. ❤️

I asked San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins 謝安宜 if Housing First as a policy is working for people struggling with addiction. "It's certainly not helping addiction." 🧵

Recovery First is the official drug policy of San Francisco now. Salvation Army SF is leading the way by providing post treatment abstinence based interim housing. This is the way. TheWayOutSF Kunal Modi Stephen Sherrill Matt Dorsey Steve Adami CBS News Bay Area cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco/n…
