“We can’t go from clapping for NHS workers to slapping them in pay discussions…” Patients will expect the Government to treat NHS staff with respect and act now to avert strikes. Rachel Reeves⁩ and I spoke to ⁦Anoosh Chakelian⁩ ⁦The New Statesman 👇🏻 newstatesman.com/politics/labou…

Now we know why Rishi Sunak refuses to negotiate with NHS staff. He wants the strikes to go ahead, so he can blame doctors and nurses for his failure. #PMQs

The weekly cancer MDT meeting can cause treatment delays, result in poor quality decisions, and waste clinicians’ time, say Tom Roques and colleagues. It’s time for a fresh approach bmj.com/content/391/bm…

This. Yet this kind of nonsensical “thinking” from poorly informed “ThinkTanks” like Re:State is what politicians use to drive policy, which ultimately ruins public services As expected, Re:State has demonstrated very poor understanding of how inpatient Medicine works 1/

7. If we add people waiting 12+ hours in EDs onto occupancy statistics, it shows hospital occupancy rates over 100%. The same happens if we include stays over 24 hours. Not all of these patients are admitted, some just go despite illness, or some get better

This report highlight what we are seeing in SAM Online daily. The fact that is has become the “normal” makes it no less distressing or indeed dangerous for our patients.

Jugdeep Dhesi 11/n The report makes some good recommentations, but essentially start at the back door of the hospital and work from there to improve flow. Stop wasting time and effort on demand management, GP bashing or unproven and unevaluated initiatives. Fin

NHS England Sorry Prof Vig, but this is nonsense. The 10 point plan is basic decency that hadn’t been delivered for decades (inc the time you’ve been in management). 1. Where is the apology for this? Or the acknowledgement of failings by those in senior management? 1/

Such a poorly thought-out opinion - it is possible be conflicted about something but still do it. I don’t want to be on strike - but if things aren’t done to address conditions for residents medicine in this country is in significant trouble. So I have to be… nuance.

I don’t know any clinician who values the opinions of NHS England & its leaders. It is inappropriate for NHSE to interfere in industrial action. The optics of a senior clinician who has better salary & pension than our residents could aspire to, telling them not to strike - are

Ofsted say leaders should feel “energised, not anxious” about the inspection changes... but when their own review warns of increased workload, trial inspections feel worse and the Big Listen still hasn’t been published, it’s no wonder the profession isn’t buying it. Trust isn’t

Dr Luke Craddock I'm ST7 and graduated in 2016. In 7 years of speciality training I've done several things that would have scored me highly at core training level. If I was to apply solely to IMT next year with my CV today I would have 21/35 points. How is this viable for post FY applicants??
