Two months after melting down about Market Urbanism's elevator report Sandeep Vaheesan and Brian Callaci have seemingly discovered the 3 Ps (Preservation, Protection and Production) of housing policy that YIMBY groups have subscribed to since 2018.

This deranged argument about how YIMBYs are bad simultaneously argues that upzoning won't produce very many units in the real world, and also that if you let YIMBYs win there will be so much uncontrolled building that like, sewers will collapse. Astounding doublethink.

Monthly employment data is probably the best real time clue on changes in population. There is no sign of 20,000 new residents, let alone Haitians. Home price appreciation has been normal. The cat thing was ridiculous. It distracted everyone from realizing it's all ridiculous.

Truly no better feeling than having fought the battles, and largely defeated the Berkeley NIMBYs, and now, the city just starts to function like … a city. Yes, you, too, can defeat the NIMBYs. Berkeley is an outlier of NIMBY extremism, and it only took us ~ 7 years.

The infuriating part is that we already know how this goes: any proposal to build more hotels to fix NYC's dire hotel room shortage will be rejected as "you just want it to be easier for rich travelers to get a room." With no reflection on *why* only rich people can visit NYC.
