Never equate obedience to the Word of God w/ "putting God in a box." God's power is not limited by obedience but rather made manifest through it. If God has given us difficult commands to follow, we do not resort to pragmatism. That is to favor the wisdom of men & to limit God.

The central message of the death and resurrection of Christ is that you can’t save yourself. Anything less is a false gospel.

Grace is never given as an excuse for sinful living. In fact the opposite is asserted. Grace is the grounds of our new obedience to Christ. “How shall we who died to sin still live in it.” (Rom 6:2)
