Lots of newts in the garden this year. Numbers slowly creeping up thanks to the multiple ponds we've stuck in and around the place.

Wonderful night out recording a new episode of the Critter Shed podcast with my bug brother Brian Ó Muirí / 브라이언 at microWild While searching for the subject of the podcast, harvestmen we cam across one of our most amazing native arachnidspecies, a pseudoscorpion! Absolutely chuffed 🦂

A group of snails overwintering in a cosy nook of a tree. They form a protective cover over the opening of their shells by building up lairs of mucas & their blood acts as a type of anti-freeze, allowing them to survive temperatures as low as -5°. Wonderful little creatures.

If you're a dog owner please keep your pet on its leash around wild areas.Apart from the obvious tragic attacks on large animals, dogs disrupt local habitats and Insecticide on dogs' fur can kill off aquatic invertebrates in waterways. Just have little consideration for nature.
