Looking forward to saying hello when I come to MUSC soon to onboard! FYI, ASAIO #karaoke is being planned, along with HFSA again. Stay tuned!
Goodbye Prague. What a fantastic #ISHLT2024 ! Planning has already started for #ISHLT2025 in Boston. Submit your symposium proposals and your best science- members make the meeting. Boston is Wicked Good! The ISHLT Marta Farrero Stanford Heart Failure, Cardiac Transplant and MCS
Ryan J Tedford MD MUSC Health Dan Silverman The ISHLT Brian Houston MD Stavros George Drakos Palak Shah Manreet Kanwar Sheldon Litwin MUSC-CardiologyFellowshipPrograms Molly Silkowski, DO Markus Jan Griffin Jennifer Hajj, RN Women in Heart Transplantation and MCS I got to meet this great and incredibly intelligent person yesterday!!! Such a great member of MUSC. At least I got to meet him and see one of you (@tmcsbird) haha
Congratulations to my MUSC Health colleague Dan Silverman who is this year’s winner of the The ISHLT O.H. Frazier Grant in MCS Translational Research! Dan is studying the impact of pulsatilty on fibroblasts - implications for myocardial recovery in MCS patients! Brian Houston MD
Nicholas Kolaitis, MD MAS focuses on need to target enrollment (enroll pts w/ actual PVD), consider/mitigate adverse events, assess meaningful endpoints, abandon when futile. Still waiting on the papers for PASSION, SOUTHPAW, SOPRANO, PERFECT - need sponsors to publish, even if negative
🌍 Today's #PH session at #ISHLT2024 generated tons of discussion - zeroing in on the most common (but most neglected?) PH Groups - 2 & 3. Join us as we delve into diagnosis, risk assessment, and treatment. #PulmonaryHypertension #PVD . Moderated by @SandeepSahay & John Aubert
RV in the news again😊! Happy to have presented our work on RV conductance data in LVAD patients! Jacob Niall Schroder Marat Fudim, MD MHS Muath Bishawi Mihai V. Podgoreanu Anne Cherry Attila Kovács MD, PhD Patrick Sullivan Ryan J Tedford MD
PACCS is early PAC (w/in 24 hrs) vs possible delayed (> 48 hrs) PAC use or none. Must embrace the null hypothesis. Randomizarion best way to ⬇️ unmeasured confounding and move the needle. 🚨 Let's Get Critical 🚨Day 2 is all about the RV. We're diving deep into hemodynamics and the complexities of right ventricular failure. #ISHLT2024 #PVD #RV #Hemodynamics #ThePeoplesVentricle
Great discussion on RV function by Ryan J Tedford MD at #ISHLT2024 .
Increasing LV after load leads to increased LV contractility, and thus improved RV contractility by septal interactions. Need to balance this against increasing the LA pressure and hence RV after load.
Why does late RHF occur post LVAD?
LVAD unloading diminishes septal contraction, which weakens RV contractility. Coupled with persistent RV afterload, it leads to RV-PA uncoupling in the LVAD. Ryan J Tedford MD Brian Houston MD Navin Kapur Jon Grinstein MD Mark Belkin

Enjoyed immersion into the RV today! Excellent talks by Sergio Caravita Ryan J Tedford MD Archer Martin. Esp needed waveform review & managemt of RV preload, afterload, contractility & lusitrophy. RV/LV interdependence & coupling is a dynamic feature of VAD pts The ISHLT #ISHLT2024
