Introduced in 1961, Japan's #UHC system ensured affordable access to basic health care for all & saved many citizens from impoverishment. We believe this political choice led to #Japan not only achieving the world’s longest life expectancy but also to its economic development.

As Chair of GoF of #UHC, we are honored to co-host, along with UHC2030, the "High-level Luncheon on Voices from the UHC Movement" w/Annalena Baerbock & World Health Organization (WHO). This mtg provides an opportunity for interactive dialogue btwn GoF members & #UHC2030 partners around the Key Asks for the #HLMUHC.

At #UHC briefing at United Nations Foundation, Amb Hoshino gave opening remarks, stating #Japan has been managing its UHC system for more than half a century & we constantly upgrade the system by introducing new technologies. We will however need to further capitalize on #innovation for UHC.

#Japan will further strengthen thematic cooperation w/UNICEF in fields of education (e.g. thru formulation of #SDGs learning materials for students), nutrition (e.g. thru #Tokyo Nutrition Summit 2020) &in promoting #UHC (e.g. co-hosting high-level immunization event United Nations on 6/28)

Political declaration on #UHC commits to cutting across all health challenges. #Japan stands ready to accelerate efforts thru upcoming events: - 2nd UHC Forum in Bangkok & Tokyo Nutrition for Growth Summit in 2020 - High Level Review Meeting on UHC #NYC in 2023 towards #UHC2030
