Rob Galloway It amazes me how risk is piled onto ED and no where else. Most of the hospital has the risk tolerance of the nuclear power industry. In the ED though it is like you are a Spitfire pilot in the Battle of Britain. So much being done for so many, by so few.

‘There is not enough space for proper beds in the corridor. As patients are too unwell to sit in a chair, they are kept on trollies. Patients may be lying on these trollies for more than 12 hours, the thin foam mattress is not enough to protect patients from pressure damage’

I don’t want to pay less national insurance. I want the surgery my dad’s been waiting years to get to happen. I want a train to from London to Edinburgh to cost less than the flight. I want all children fed a hot meal in school. I want benefits at levels people can live on.

This BMJ obituary for a kind, exemplary A&E consultant is a sharp reminder for #EmergencyMedicine colleagues that your job does not care about you. In contrast, you are not expendable at home and are irreplaceable to your loved ones. bmj.com/content/384/bm…

Last year 14,000 people died needlessly from 12+ hour waits in A&E 😳 That’s not like road fatalities, where modern life means sadly there’ll always be some. That’s a number that should & could be zero. Extraordinary nugget from Royal College of Emergency Medicine in The Times and The Sunday Times by caroline wheeler Ben Spencer
