Ricky Ford 𝐋𝐞𝐞 𝐉𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐬 Also Ricky, the asset value doesn’t pay bills cash does. One of the many misconceptions is farmers are loaded. The economics for food production are complex and simple in equal measure, inflationary costs have rocketed and income has collapsed.

35.6ppl for 4.3% fat, top band bacto /SCC milk is not sustainable Freshways (and others) what is the answer? 5-6p bellow typical COP for yr round level supply - nothing for reinvestment -eroding net worth to supply a great product! #TeamDairy NFU Dairy Dairy UK Chris Walkland

milkprices.com Buyers need to understand they’ve squeezed the life out the industry with over 18 months of below cost of production pricing to the farmers, they were warned but they didn’t care! Now it’s coming back to bite them, and there’s no magic milk tap!!

The simplest way for people to understand why farmers are royally kicking off is this in 1982 when inheritance tax came in £150/t was achievable for bread making wheat , if the RPI was followed to today a ton of the same would be £519/ton . Tax then becomes no argument

Another day of what-ifs after accountant meeting. Investment plans of £130k shelved What do we do? Dads ill, mums old. Can’t get insurance on Dad. Potentially means in the next 10yrs will be out as won’t be able to afford IHT amount. Mental hit is huge! 😞

Sam Evans We’re seeing it. Future plans, drawn and developed over a year and shelved due to uncertain future. The industry is going to be rocked as investment is dropping significantly. Not sure what happens now 🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻

Hard to have a glass half full optimism for 2025 when your barley field is half full with water #flood What other buisness carry’s the risk of farming ? Why do we bother zero motivation now after the budget 😢

I have only kept up with #OFC headlines. I still can’t believe we produce a stable of life food, and the government expect us to diversify to subsidise its production. Never mind paying the #familyfarmtax . Time some politicians went hungry I think .

So, The Labour Party has declared war on Britain’s farmers. A reminder that only weeks ago his government agreed to row back on taxes for billionaire non-doms after meeting them in Davos. But farmers earning less than minimum wage are to be crucified out of spite.

Apparently the NHS can’t survive without a tax raid on farmers, but it can survive introducing tax breaks for film studios. Quite incredible mathematics from Sir Keir.

Food price inflation is racing again Told you this would happen Our goverment is idiotic They’ve imposed massive tax rise liabilities on our food system and dismantled the support system that part funded food production in the U.K.
