Just back from “Now You See Us”, a big Tate show featuring work by 100 women artists who painted in Britain between 1520 and 1920. Plenty of totally unfamiliar names as well as better known ones - and quite a few about whom I’d like to know more, which is presumably the point.

Bit of a fail as I'll have to wait a year to get another go at it, I didn't get a decent shot of the whole of the Louis Davis windows in Cheltenham College Chapel, so you'll have to content yourself with details! From the Pure in Heart window

Not churches this time, but I‘m writing about this C19th building in Trowbridge as part of the proposal for my next book. It’s a house for drying teasels that were an important part of the old wool processing industry where they were used to raise the nap of the finished cloth.

An Arts and Crafts masterpiece. St Mary's, Temple, Corsley, Wiltshire was a private chapel built in the memory of the husband and son of Mary Barton. In 1899, Mary left money for the construction of the chapel and an endowment of a trust to preserve it.

A 1956 window from John Piper, at Chapel of St Anthony, Oundle, . The 3 windows show Christ in nine forms: The Way, Truth and Life; the true Vine, Bread and Water; the Judge, Teacher and Shepherd. Very different from the last I've posted.

A complex , Avebury, . Looking at this now, you'd be tempted to think it all Victorian, but no! The loft is C15th, restored by Charles Ponting in 1884, with his new screen constructed under it. The loft was hidden behind a false wall, discovered 1812 1/2
