Westminster Abbey choir screen by Edward Blore

It’s such a great example of OTT bling I was surprised that it’s from 1831, so it’s not Victorian Gothic. But it’s not Georgian Gothick either, coming from the reign of William IV that doesn’t warrant an ‘ian’

Henry VIII was responsible for the screen & much of King's College Chapel's woodwork.

But it was the stone fan vaulting that overwhelmed me with its majesty.

John Wastell was the architect of 'the noblest stone ceiling in existence', which was built 1512 - 1515.

A golden angel, her draperies rippling in the breeze holds a candle on the screen at St Etheldreda, Horley.
Designed by T. Lawrence Dale 1947-50.
He was the Oxford Diocesan surveyor from the 1930s and designed churches himself as well as restoration.
