If the City of Toronto 🇨🇦 just gave each person they evicted from the encampments $33,000, they would have $2,750 each month for a year to spend on rent and food and other necessities and they wouldn’t be homeless anymore. Instead they violently evicted them.
Very privileged to be part of a report led by Tara Gomes that was released earlier this week looking at healthcare use among people who died of an overdose. We found 24% of people had a healthcare encounter in the week prior to death & 50% in the month before they died. 1/x
