Very, very hard to try to comprehend this. Also the only Canadian athlete in the minority currently qualified for World Athletics Championships Oregon22 that is left out. (Un?)Fortunately I’m getting pretty good at overcoming rediculous setbacks, but this stings.

A friendly reminder because I was #triggered this morning: Run on the left side of the road, facing traffic. Exceptions are blind hills/curves, or if you're approaching a right turn. If you're in a group, consolidate for oncoming cars/bikes.

Running in large groups all across the roads, or on the wrong side of the road, means cars don't know what to do. That's dangerous for all of us!

The safest thing we can do is see danger coming, and behave in consistent/predictable ways so cars know what to expect from us.

What a whirlwind 48 hours; @JohnGay96 stomps out a stacked steeple field again, Robert Heppenstall launches himself out of a cannon and into the 1,500 scene as a contender and a personal favourite runner, Matt Hughes retires. I feel like this may be my sign to relaunch the pod?

MARCO AROP - BRONZE- 🥉 1:44.28 Canada’s second medal of the championships. He led a huge chunk of that. The pride of Edmonton is gutsy through and through.

I'm hearing that Canada's first sub-4 miler and distinguished research doctor, Dr. David Bailey, has passed away. A cornerstone of both the running and medical communities late into his life, he'll be missed by many. Take some time to read about him here: inside.lhsc.on.ca/article/summer…

I got to know Dr. Bailey as someone who would help out at twilight track meets as the "check-in" person. I'd always chuckle to myself, because the athletes checking in with him would have no idea who they were talking to. A humble man, he'd never let on, unless asked.

This is an interview I did with Dr. Bailey a number of years ago. If I remember correctly, it was in celebration of the 50th anniversary of his amazing feat. soundcloud.com/trackie-radio/…

Here’s a video of a hill workout I did the other day courtesy of Michael Rochus. It’s no mountain but it’s the biggest trail hill we have around here. #K2 youtu.be/_pQkrQKYofU
