Authoritarians of all kinds almost on reflex grasp for the “outside agitators” myth because to acknowledge rebellion from within the subject population is to acknowledge their ability to resist. An ability the authoritarian must undermine at all costs, in all narratives.

It is interesting, to put it politely, that Tiananmen remains the American reference point for state violence against political movements instead of, I don't know, Kent State, Wounded Knee, the MOVE bombing, LA '92, Ferguson, Standing Rock, NoDAPL, Stop Cop City, etc etc etc

The wheelchair industry is now controlled by two private equity firms.

They won't prioritize repairs, which aren't as profitable. So countless users have broken chairs and can't afford new ones.

What a state determines to be “lawful” is not going to align with resistance, rebellions, or revolutions. It was legal to force my people onto reserves and unlawful to leave one without permission. Racial segregation was legal and denying racialized people services was lawful.

A reminder that the vast majority of women killed in Ireland are killed by the documented white men they live with.

Happy May Day to all erotic laborers in the sex trade! We are all deserving of rights, respect, and resources.

We’re concerned this bill will harm sex workers by making it impossible for them to work from hotels, which pushes them into more dangerous street-based work.

Prior attempts to “train” hotel workers to spot trafficking have inevitably led to sexist, racist, & classist profiling.

Today is International Workers Day, so let's remember the worker's voices that are often silenced and ignored. Sex workers deserve to be heard, their safety prioritised, and their rights protected. It's time for meaningful engagement, not dismissal.
