A 2016 investigation found violations in 85% of the Los Angeles garment shops it looked into. Now, a bill to protect California’s low-paid garment workers is headed to Gov. Newsom’s desk. “There is some kind of a modern slavery goin' on,” one worker told AnnaWerner.

Reforming the garment industry is also a climate issue. "Underpaying garment workers not only costs their communities and taxpayers hard-earned resources, it enables the fashion industry to make far more items than consumers need and the planet can endure." #SB62
