Great to see part 2 of the heat stress podcast from 3M. The two heat stress podcasts were my first time into this genre of communication. Slowly getting the hang of this social media revolution. If you like you can check it out at lnkd.in/gqmvXUB. Thanks to Mark Reggers.

Indeed a sad day but this is a rarity for us. I have worked in cities where this is a common occurrence. Maybe it is time that our leaders start to look at the big picture. This is not something we want to become commonplace.

Agree! During my time in smelting we had to import specific smaller sized respirators to get a face fit for our vac students. P2 masks off the shelf are not designed for the young. A poor face fit can be dangerous as wearers go unprotected into areas they would normally avoid.

Don’t forget that this is for an 8 hr daily exposure. Work a longer shift and it needs to be reduced even further. Critical to make sure controls are effective and verify they are operating as designed.

Some interesting info relating to managing heat stress during COVID-19 in health care scenarios. May not be an issue yet in Australia but warmer weather is coming. Let's be prepared. ghhin.org/heat-and-covid…

To the “experts” providing the advice that N95/P2 are not necessary for frontline HCW. Can you provide the logical scientific based assessment that led to this outcome. I am always interested in learning something radically new or please review your advice.

So you’re an Occupational Hygienist……..What’s that? We need an “elevator speech” - short 20 to 30 second clear and simple commentary on who we are. Email [email protected] by 26 March with your suggestions! #aioh #occupationalhealthandsafety #branding #newideas

Just Ask Three If you are providing or being provided a respirator, ask these three questions: 1. Is it a certified N95/P2 respirator? 2. Has there been a face fit done? 3. Was training on its use provided? Answering no to any of these, means you may not be adequately protected!

Yet again we see a child left in a vehicle in the heat in Queensland! Below is a graph showing how the temperature can climb inside a vehicle.
