Watched the 1st episode of Beef & loved the moment when Danny sees a photo of Amy's husband and says, "he's Japanese" knowingly and then the scene just moves on and either you get the historical beef or you don't. Signs of a great show.

i genuinely love that for once the reason for a shortage of something isn’t “capitalism is using the supply chain to try and kill us” but “the monks who make it are too busy chanting and doing monk stuff to increase production capacity” nytimes.com/2023/04/14/din…

Finally sat down to read this wonderful piece by Becky Cooper -- I do not drink but I still enjoyed! No one quiz me on how to pronounce Chartreuse. nytimes.com/2023/04/14/din…

Just as Chartreuse is becoming more popular, the French order that has produced the herbal liqueur for more than two centuries is pulling back to focus on faith. nyti.ms/3L6AFSP

"I stand with the monks. But I am also responsible for running a sick beverage program" is the most pressing political dilemma of our time

This book deserves to be acknowledged as one of the best and most compassionate true crime investigations of all time. I felt so connected to Jane that I cried reading the last pages. Thank you to Becky Cooper for introducing me to Jane. This will stay with me forever

One of the first publications about sexualized violence during fieldwork was written by a Swedish anthropologist. She published her account in 1995 under the pseudonym “Eva Moreno”. Interestingly, using a pseudonym had initially not been her choice. 🧵(1/6)

The Waltham Murders is a library book by design. It's true crime, it's a memoir, but it's also a resource for people here, now, and in generations to come. I am so grateful for this opportunity. Hope to see you there.

I am very much looking forward to speaking with Becky Cooper at Cambridge Public Library tomorrow 6-8.  In Massachusetts, District Attorneys have jurisdiction over homicides. We Keep The Dead Close is about another murder in Middlesex County and the story is still very much relevant today.
