In subject & texture, Dunbar’s work reminds me of The Overlord Embroidery exhibited The D-Day Story. The tapestry was commissioned by Lord Dulverton in 1968 & designed by artist, Sandra Lawrence. Lawrence’s design was stitched by women from the Royal School of Needlework in London.
Don't forget, we have fantastic author Dr Victoria L. Humphreys at the museum tomorrow (Saturday) for the launch of her new novel, Not the Work of an Ordinary Boy.
At this free event, Dr Humphreys will explain how she wrote the book and read extracts from it.

On 4th July 1944, 1st Bn Manchester Regiment was in action around Cheux.

Beginning Sep 21st, 1943, 9,500 Italian soldiers of the 33rd Acqui Division of Artillery were massacred by the Nazis on the Greek island of #Kefalonia following Italy’s surrender to the Allies. Enemies became allies as Kefalonians hid Italians to save them from murder. #WW2 🇬🇷
