I’ve been released & am at the hospital to be checked out for injuries. A cop grabbed my dress & ripped it half off my body, injuring my arm. Another put his hands around my throat from behind to get me on the ground.

I am torn up about what happened to these UCLA students.

I am deeply inspired by the intellectual rigor and political action of Ashley D. Farmer Ashanté M. Reese, Down4MyDEIs and Ruha Benjamin. They are distinguished scholars and comrades.

Seemingly benign commentary like this tacitly (or sometimes overtly) promotes the denigration of activists and organizers by implying that they aren’t intelligent or astute. This legitimates 1) the idea that organizers must be “outside agitators” and 2) physical repression.
