Has a cool Art Deco feel to it. Which is a little counterintuitive, as London is home to iconic Gothic architecture, and New York is where Art Deco shines brightest.

Leylah Fernadez wins an epic against Zeynep Sonmez in three hours and seven minutes. Elena Rybakina next. H2H 2-2, Fernandez's last win was Washington last year, but also, Fernandez's last win over a Top 3 opponent was in her epic US Open final run in 2021 (No.2 Sabalenka)

Not sure if playing in Barcelona might have caused this, but it’s a big loss for the tournament. Alcaraz having said he likes one-week masters more, and the conditions in Monte Carlo being far more similar to RG, makes you wonder how many times he’ll skip Madrid in his career.

Damn this post match interview was… wow. Muchova was in nice enough mood to make a joke out of it, but that interviewer just kept bringing up the worst stats. There should be some sort of sandwich rule for stats, every negative stat comes has to be sandwiched by two good ones.

What an excellent season Muchova is putting together so far this year 21-4 in 2026 with the losses coming to Sabalenka, Swiatek, Gauff 2x Wins over Rybakina, Mboko 2x, and today a very big win against her biggest pigeonizer Plays Svitolina next (who is also Top 5 in the race)!

This could have been a good opportunity for Fritz. Madrid would suit his game better, especially without Alcaraz and Djokovic (maybe even Sinner). Worrying for him. Could see him skipping Roland Garros at this point, to be ready for Wimbledon and North America after.

Swiatek looks a lot more reassuring. Even after some big misses it feels like she isn’t just spiralling but looking focused on playing the next point. So many of her losses she just looked utterly confused and lost on court.

Feels like this is the tough-losses year for Fonseca. Good experience and developing that thick skin to deal with those. Each Top 10 match now will be less “happy to be there” and more “now I need to win this.”

Tough loss for Swiatek, but all in all, there's important positives to take from this, especially the much-needed match action with the new coach. Great stuff from Andreeva, kept her focus and overcame difficulties in the third set to seal the win. 7 straight wins now.

No, Zverev won't be the first player ever to be ranked Top 3 without holding a title— Raonic remained at #3 for three more weeks in January 2017 after failing to defend Brisbane, his lone title from 2016. On the WTA side, curiously, Graf reached #3 before winning her first title.

Karolina Muchova having her best year on tour! - First WTA1000 - First win in 7 matches against Gauff (who also beat her in her first 2 WTA1000 finals) - First win over Svitolina - Up to No.5 in the Race (CH No.8) Next up - Rybakina (2-1) - Andreeva (0-1)

Jodar plays so effortlessly. Every stroke seems to flow with perfect timing. If he grows in confidence, he’s going to be pretty dangerous for the top players

Downwards trend for Zverev. You can only take so many beatings in big matches before your confidence dips enough for more players to start believing they can beat you too. His natural risk aversion in big points only aggravates this.

Jodar’s footwork and timing on his forehand are so clean, if he starts getting more aggressive and really closing the baseline it will be really hard to keep tempo with him. There’s a lot of potential there for a variety of strategies on every surface

That win over Fernandez in the QF might have been a lot more important than I thought for Rybakina. Ofc it’s great to win a match from match point down, but it could have been a much greater confidence boost that could overflow into Madrid and Rome, especially with the title.

Another player who's so young, and only just got his 100th win, but feels like he's been playing for so, so long now. There's a lot of exciting young guys coming up now, in the next 2-3 years we might be looking at a pretty strong field.
