Lawyers will always stand for independence of judiciary and will oppose any (un)constitutional amendments.

Now that the Govt has received the draft of the proposed constitutional amendments, all lawyers and supporters of Govt parties should also insist on this being made public. Let there be a transparent public discourse. Constitution of Pakistan is not a secret document! 🇵🇰

The inability of the Govt to present the constitutional amendments today, despite tall claims, is a big win for PTI and its leadership. Despite all challenges, the real people’s party trying its best to guard the independence of judiciary.

Why aren’t journalists and anchors raising their voice and asking for the proposed amendments to be made public? It’s not just JUIF but the entire nation that needs to see what is at stake.

This is also true for the Form 47 set-up’s supporters who have forgotten all about rule of law and independence of judiciary and not uttering a word about how unlawful and anti-democratic this entire charade is. At least ask to see the draft! ایسی کیا رازداری ہے

This is absolutely incorrect. Barrister Gohar Khan has not made any such offer. This is fake news!

Shocking amendments being proposed to the Constitution of Pakistan. The ‘Supreme’ Court will become a court subservient to the proposed Federal Constitutional Court. Fundamentals of separation of powers and independence of judiciary are being targeted.

The fact that JUI-F blocked these (un)constitutional amendments from being passed in the darkness of the night shrouded in secrecy is commendable. Hope they won’t budge and continue to take a stand for independence of judiciary.

Very strongly worded press release from CJP’s home Bar Council. His lawyers (who represented him in his difficult times) have already denounced these amendments. The writing is on the wall. Go home now.

And if any reform is to be done it should start with the ECP!
