Ruth Swailes Wizzobravo 🏳️‍🌈🇺🇦 Sharifah Lee FCCT #AntiRacist #TVTTagTeam 🦩 Nicola12345 I am totally in awe of teachers in these situations - I inspected some truly outstanding tiny schools. But when Ofsted were throwing together the current framework, it's like nobody said 'Hang on, is this going to work for every school in every part of the country?'

I am just going to put it out there. I am sick to the back teeth - particularly of the unions, of hearing them say, we are doing this or we are doing that to sort OFSTED. They are doing nothing. I can tell you this.I know this our my lawyers met theirs and they were useless.

Very pleased to pass on the information that the Commons Select Committee on Education is going to launch a full inquiry into Ofsted's work in schools.

Tom Rogers Look at Ireland, no Ofsted, teachers that stay till they retire, sane working hours and as a country they perform better in international studies. Our mad system doesn’t raise standards it sabotages them.

In this morning’s interviews, did Amanda Spielman sound like a person acknowledging there are deficiencies with Ofsted? No, she did not. Not an ounce of humility, she sought to diminish the changes, sought to diminish the problems and only succeeded in diminishing herself.

“If you want kids to learn to read complex texts, you are going to have to let them try to read complex texts -- even if that means they don't get everything the first time through or that the lesson is a bit bumpier than usual.”

A profound point about teaching demanding reading

The Ofsted reforms announced today don’t go far enough - this is what Professor Julia Waters, Ruth Perry’s sister, and I had to say on BBC Breakfast. Please do share your thoughts….

🇬🇧 TeacherToolkit.co.uk 25 years in and counting….counting the years until I can get out! Nothing to do with the children, everything to do with the workload & the constant cycle of ‘new’ initiatives. Too many pointless, OFSTED driven things to do. Good will taken too much for granted. I need out 😮‍💨😴

Tom Rogers Getting rid of Ofsted would immediately get rid of a lot of the pointless bureaucracy that adds nothing to teaching and learning, but exits only as ‘proof’ we are doing our jobs, if Ofsted should descend on us.

Simon Smith Fed up with the pressure from LA, Ofsted and Siams so called it a day. Also now realised the pay I was getting as a head (small school) was not worth it. Only 500 a month worse off now. Run a school for an extra 125 a week, no thanks!

If this person doesn’t get Tes ‘person of the year’ for 2023, something crazy is going to have to happen the rest of the year… wheels are in motion, today OFSTED do what they always do and sidestepped, but this is just the start of the road…

My mum cannot believe the changes in school leadership & Ofsted. No heads were ‘moved on’, schools didn’t fail & as a HT she never had to manage finance, H &S, HR, buildings, complaints & tribunals & she spent her rewarding career motivating staff & inspiring chn for 23 yrs.

As part of the package of 'changes' relating to Ofsted inspections, the DfE is increasing funding to the Education Support Charity.

This is equivalent to a school playground being covered in dangerous holes and the headteacher dealing with it by buying extra first aid kits.
