I agree. A very useful and insightful review of the complex nature of the problem of equity. Despite the words and slogans Im pretty certain no recent governments have shown the commitment and drive to tackle the issue.

Abigail Welsby Yep - it's still going to be a case of 'you said x, inspector said y, they're right & you're wrong.

This is the root of the problem. Sadly, more recent HMCIs have ignored this and/or weren’t even aware of approach. Shifting dial towards a less combative and more open inspection arrangement requires Ofsted to embrace self evaluation. It’s done this before and can do it again.

Schools Week Just for complete accuracy, FDA union supports His Majesty’s Inspectors (HMI). The term ‘Ofsted Inspectors’ has a specific meaning in Ofsted i.e. most inspectors who are not employed by Ofsted but are contracted for specific inspections. They have no representation

I think a chat with recently retired or moved on HMI might give the answer.

Julia Waters is urging NEU members at a fringe meeting to come together with other unions for reform ( not abolition ) of Ofsted . “Do this for yourselves, do this for each other, do it for Ruth”

At NEU conference Julia Waters says there are still some in Ofsted who don’t fully accept findings of coroner & cultural change.
