Study in Ann Surg Oncol reveals colectomy improves long-term survival in non-mucinous appendiceal adenocarcinoma vs. appendectomy alone. Mucinous types showed no survival benefit from colectomy. More on this SEER database analysis at doi.org/10.1245/s10434…

Peter Higgins Crohn's & Colitis Foundation Colectomy in 2002 before anti-TNFs available for UC. Started adalimumab around 2007 for antibiotic-refractory inflammation of my pouch. Quickly moved to weekly dosing. Huge improvement in symptoms. Been working well since!

Good vibes appreciated for tomorrow 🥹 4 1/2 years after my colectomy and now we get to see if I need a second surgery 🥲 I've been trying to stay positive but sometimes I do wish things were easier to handle 🥴

The_Bearded_Dr_Sina I have a particular surgeon that always request for this blue light when operating. Whenever he is doing the Laparoscopic anterior Resection with sigmoid colectomy and anastomosis. He destroys my sight whenever I'm on his team

… but always balancing benefit/risk on the single patient.

1) avoid mortality
2) avoid colectomy

This is a powerful piece. Reading it, I was reminded of my own colectomy 6 months ago. The NHS is staffed by amazing individuals who are working so hard. But if you take enough cogs out of the system – which this gvt has been wilfully doing for years – patients’ lives will suffer
