#Youlgreave a lovely village in #Derbyshire .This is #ThimbleHall , a tiny C18th 1-up, 1-down cottage, with the upper floor having originally been accessed by a wooden ladder. It was named as the āSmallest detached house in GBā in 2000 by Guinness World Records #HouseHistoryHour

The land and cottage in Surrey that I investigated appears in the records of a C16 lay subsidy, the C17 hearth tax, the C18 land tax, C19 poor rates and the C20 land valuation survey. So my research gave me interesting insights into taxation over the centuries.
