I’ve just left The National Archives, and have decided that as I will be returning there on Tuesday, I will help the first 20 people who private message me to find an entry on the #1921Census . Just message hi and if I reply you can send me your details.
This morning's play with the #1921Census . With a bit of judicious searching Findmypast I discovered that 77.5% of my #OneNameStudy Southgates were living in just 6 counties in 1921.
It's great when you can finally prove your research 😁 I had a possible marriage & death of my great grandads brother. Checked the 1921 Cen last night, and BAM! there he is! I can now add the research to my tree. His death is heartbreaking 😥

How exciting to find my G.Grandfather was a butler at the age of 23 for #Titanic survivor Algernon Barkworth. #1921Census Seen here in a previous role as footman wearing a white tie. Photographed here by his keen photographer 'master' at Tranby House, Hessle. #Genealogy
The 1921 census is released here in the UK today. Opportunities to find more about our past is a tantalising prospect. Here is a 1921 dress that would have been gracing a dining room or a dance floor somewhere that very year Philadelphia Museum of Art #1921Census #fashionhistory
Last night I basically spent my entire weekend beer budget on Findmypast #1921Census returns.
But was it worth it?
My first impressions on the new census:

The #1921Census is moving from a pay-per-view to subscription model! Findmypast The National Archives #FamilyHistory
Has anyone else found an illiterate person in the #1921Census yet? My great-great-grandad couldn't write. I'm intrigued that it was signed by his mother-in-law (and neighbouring Head of Household) and not his wife.
The #1921Census confirmed that my Great x2 Grandfather Joseph Rogers did work at Patent Shaft as a Driller for Bridge Girders between 1901 and approx 1930, as did his father from the late 1890s. They may have made bridges similar to this one in Dorset, threatened with demolition.
The most interesting aspect of the #1921Census for me has definitely been the places of work being shown - my grandmother, age 22, was a shorthand typist at a 'money society' in #Blackburn that collapsed spectacularly the following year #Interesting #Genealogy Findmypast
#1921census . #LeonardWoolf completed the form in purple ink, with himself listed as ‘Head’ & #VirginiaWoolf as ‘Wife’. While Leonard works as an ‘Author & editor’, Virginia is an ‘Author'. Also in the house were Nellie Boxall & Lottie Hope; described as ‘Domestic Servant’.
Just burst into tears as I saw this result from the #1921Census - my beloved nanna. She was just 1 year old here. I had no idea she had so many siblings, all of whom she outlived by quite a way. Also never knew they had a ‘boarder’ - who was he? #Newcastle twitter.com/findmypast/sta…
I wrote a (rare!) blog post this week about my husband's adopted grandfather found on the #1921Census that I mentioned @ #AncestryHour last week. Tiny bit of downtime between Strathclyde Institute for Genealogical Studies assignments! greendragongenealogy.co.uk/1921-census/fu…
Wondered how one of our 'Kelsall Men' had fared after the First World War & looked for him on the newly released #1921Census . William Redvers BALL, aged 21, had returned to the family home at Organsdale Cottages & a 'normal' life as a farm labourer. #Oneplacewednesday #Cheshire
Found my great-great grandparents in the #1921Census for Scotland. Living at Arden Rows, North Lanarkshire. Moss litter workers for Alexander Frew and Co. brickmakers and coalmasters. Discovered the excellent website: scottishbrickhistory.co.uk #ScotlandsPeople1921
This is why it took a while to find my grandfather in the #1921Census . My great grandfather's handwriting was not the best and their surname 'REEVES' had been transcribed at BUVINE! Managed to find them by searching for Daisy! 😆😆😆
