We need more people like Dr. Turek in every field. Small gestures like 👇goes a long way! science.org/content/articl…

Witnessed an airline personnel test a guy's geometry skills. He was asked to somehow fold and pack his 4x3 feet ASN #KidneyWk poster either in his small carryon or his backpack.🧐🧐Technically, his poster counts as a third carry on😒

It's #CelebrateFirstGen Week and we are honoring members at the Institute who are first-generation college students by asking them what it means to them. Here is what Kim Escobar Alvarado, a member of the ZeitlingerLab, had to say. #WomenInStem

I analyzed 20+ years of NSF survey data. Since 2015, academia has been the "alternative" career path for PhDs. But it was the breakdown by field that really shocked me. Do these graphs match your PhD experience? 1/

Starting 2024 with a bang! Honored to receive a pre-doctoral fellowship from American Heart Association for my doctoral project on gene therapy for ADPKD. Huge thanks to AHA, my mentor Alan Yu🇭🇰, committee members, and referees for their invaluable support.

100% agree with Tod Ibrahim. American Society of Nephrology should pay more attention to Ph.D. and basic science research. It will be only limited progress w/o PhD scientists. Supporting PhD Scientists to Help Drive Breakthroughs, Improve Care kidneynews.org/view/journals/…

Removing journal names from CVs could shift focus to 'content first, journal second.' But for early-career researchers, it’s risky. Academia is slow to embrace change—are we ready for radical ideas like this? Good read👇 nature.com/articles/d4158…

I often come across PhD and Post-doc job ads where PIs say that they would reject applicants for using words deemed "non-mainstream" english in their application. This is pretty flawed! English is so diverse globally. What’s complex to one may be a daily language to another.
