I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation. It was great to have an opportunity to highlight to colleagues from health, social care and third sector some of the workforce issues experienced my social work. Feel free to contact us in Social Work Scotland if you want to hear more
In a session on use of AI in H&SC. Panelists in agreement there’s huge potential for use beyond health but very little exploration. We need to change this. In social work AI has the potential to better predict needs and allow targeted interventions #DigiHealthCare24
Great to hear about the incredible Blantyre Life from Ian Beattie South Lanarkshire Council. I visited last year and was blown away by the smart use of consumer tech to maintain people’s independence and minimise the need for large packages of care. We need more of this #DigiHealthCare24
Today at #DigiHealthCare24 I have the pleasure of being part of a panel discussion on developing the workforce. I intend to highlight issues currently impacting social work using evidence such as Social Work Scotland Setting the Bar research. Here’s a sneak peek: socialworkscotland.org/reports/settin…
Back to a beautiful looking Dynamic Earth this morning for day two of #DigiHealthCare24 . I’m looking forward to another day of sharing, learning and connecting with colleagues across the sector.
I absolutely agree. But given the current financial climate I have to start to question if we can actually afford to go on this digital journey. We can’t do it half heartedly or on the cheap. We need to get it right across health, social work & social care #DigiHealthCare24
Fantastic to be back at Dynamic Earth for the Holyrood Connect Digital Health & Care Scotland Conference. This is one of my favourite events each year to connect with colleagues and to hear what’s happening across the sector #DigiHealthCare24
I had a fabulous time at the Waverley Care rainbow ceilidh this weekend to celebrate LGBT history month. Now please excuse me as I go back to massaging my very sore calf muscles 😂
What needs to change to support social work in Scotland? We in Social Work Scotland are really keen to hear your views. Please contribute to this important survey if you can!
In our workshop we heard from Claire Wilson, Chief Officer for Adult Social Work in Aberdeen City HSCP. Claire detailed their technology enabled care plan & its impact so far. The results speak for themselves. Digital in social work is having a huge impact! Social Work Scotland #SWSConf2023
It was fantastic to have Mark join us in our workshop today. Renfrewshire’s use of virtual reality to improve and enhance training experiences for social workers is truly innovative! Thanks Mark #SWSConf2023
Just finished two fantastic sessions of our workshop at the Social Work Scotland conference. This included discussions on the digital innovations in Aberdeen City HSCP, use of VR to train SWs in Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership and more innovative use of Near Me to ease some of the pressures of practice #SWSConf2023
“Why should anyone choose to be a social worker?”
A very challenging question posed by Jude Currie this morning and one that I think all social workers could spend a lot of time ruminating over. I know I’m going to be pondering it. What about you? Social Work Scotland #SWSConf2023
“As social workers we need to ask ourselves what imprint we want to make on the lives of people. But unfortunately we need to consider what imprint the system will allow us to make”
- a nice reminder from Jude Currie that we need to be disruptors #SWSConf2023 Social Work Scotland
“Student social workers are our future workforce. They deserve to have the best possible experience. As a former practice teacher myself I feel passionate about this” - heartening to hear a commitment to improving experiences for student SWs from Angela Constance #SWSConf2023
