Dear 🇬🇧, The current state of UK medicine - a brief 🧵 Exactly 1 week ago, I felt I had no choice but to resign from giving a keynote speech at this year's Royal College of Physicians annual conference. The behaviour of the College leadership left me no choice. 1/n x.com/doctor_oxford/…

Nurture isn’t a room, but should be every room in a school. Creating a nurturing environment that allows children to learn, grow and explore their potential. 🧠🌱

The most overused, oddly glorified, yet under-respected topic on the internet: Childhood Trauma. It’s why your dad won’t cry, your relationships don’t stick, and why you feel exhausted every morning. Here’s what trauma is—and how to reverse its effects (backed by science): 🧵

After our physiological needs are met,we need to biologically attach. We have brain circuitry wired for attachment (limbic).Within schools, attachment should come before everything. It's all about attachment. For pupis, it's an absolute necessity. Everything else will follow.🧠🌱

We explored Bruce D. Perry, M.D.,Ph.D. 's Neurosequential model of the brain during our Family Wellbeing workshop. We practiced tapping as a method to calm our nervous system. Then, children explored the lighthouse classroom Parting words were peaceful, relaxed, heard, involved, & hopeful.

It looks like a wet weekend ahead but there’s a lot of local history to watch on this ‘Little Knowledge Podcast’ YouTube Channel, in particular the episodes about the Tredegar family that owned much of the land in our area. youtube.com/@littleknowled…

We need more trauma informed care and trauma responsive education in our school settings. This gives our young people hope, healing, and builds resilience.🧠🌱

This could prove very useful I guess to local geneaolgists. 'Find My Past' (vailable free in the local library) had just added three sets of Cardiff Catholic Records to their collection. I've searched 'Roath' and it looks like St Perter's recods are included.
