Today we worked on letter recognition and using glue appropriately by decorating the first letter of our names.

We love going to see Ms. Rishel for music every week!

Playdough is a fun rainy day activity that also helps us work on fine motor skills.

One of our small groups this week is practicing tracing circles, lines, or the first letter of our name (depending on where each student is at developmentally).

Today we released our first butterfly to hatch from its chrysalis! There are 3 more left, so we are hoping to have more butterflies soon!

Prepare your family for winter by visiting the Coat Drive! It's a great way to outfit kiddos with coats to keep them warm as colder temps are on their way. Saturday, October 8 from 9am-noon at Salina Grace Community Resource Center.

Today during gross motor groups, we practiced jumping forward with two feet landing, rolling a ball to a partner, and using scooters.

Yesterday, Thad Beach came to visit our classroom. We learned about the pumpkin life cycle with songs and instruments. Always a fun time when Mr Beach comes to visit!

The A.M class cut open one of our big pumpkins today. We also measured the pumpkin with unifex cubes, and thought of different words to describe the pumpkin. It was fun to get hands on experience with what we've been learning about pumpkins over the last two weeks.

The P.M class also got to cut open a pumpkin. We saved some of the seeds so we can plant them on Monday. We will see if we can grow some roots and sprouts like we've been learning about.

We also did an experiment to see if pumpkins will sink or float.

Some of our classroom activities this week included painting with Q-tips to make a fall tree and matching numbered leaves to the numbers on a tree.

We managed to get in both field trips to Sunset Park before the rain came! We looked for signs of fall and talked about traffic and walking safety. A parent gave us hot cocoa and marshmallows for a special treat when we got back to school. It was a great day!

This is why we spend over half of our PreK day in play, both inside and outside.

This week we have been reading The Three Little Pigs. Today we followed a picture recipe to make a little pig snack.

Starting Monday!

Some of our learning activities today included drawing and writing on holiday cards, pretending to wrap presents, giving each other sleigh rides, and tapping a balloon with a paddle.
